Documentation:
You will need to bring the following items with you when you attend your course:

  • You will need a Provisional Driving Licence in the correct category for the motorcycle you will be using while training (or an official receipt from the Vehicle Registration and Licence authority confirming that your application for a licence has been accepted).
  • Valid insurance certificate.

If any part of it is missing or incorrect, you will not be able to continue and will be required to rebook your training for another day. A rebooking fee may be charged in addition to the course fee. Details of the course fees can be found here.

Helmet:
You must bring a safety helmet with you. It must be in good condition, conforming to current regulations (22.05 or 22.06) or British Standard BS 6658:1985, and carry the BSI Kitemark, which is a proper fit for you. We do not recommend using a second-hand or used helmet.

Visors and goggles.                                                                                                                 Your visor must also comply with current regulations, marked (For daytime use only). Visors and goggles If you ride with a visor or goggles, they must either meet British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI Kitemark or  European standard offering at least the same safety and protection as the British Standard and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark (UNECE Regulation 22.05 or 22.06)

Your motorcycle:
Your instructor will check your motorcycle before training starts. If he is not satisfied that it is roadworthy and legal, he may decide not to let you continue; in this case, you will be required to re-book your training for another day. A re-booking fee may be charged in addition to the course fee. Details of the course fees can be found here.

If you are attending a CBT course, given the limited space available for the on-site training and for safety reasons, your motorcycle must be no greater than 300 cc.

All motorcycles must have ‘L’ plates securely fitted properly and correctly.

For safety reasons and also because some motorbikes or scooters are not representative of their class, there are some motorbikes you cannot do your course on.  These bikes include (but are not limited to) ‘Thumps’ and the Honda ‘Monkey Bike’.  If you have any doubts, please contact us.

Dress:
We strongly recommend that you bring the following items of clothing with you, irrespective of the season or the weather:

  • A stout jacket, preferably designed for use with a motorcycle.
  • Waterproof outer layer. This may be stowed in a convenient place on your motorcycle when not in use.
  • Warm inner layer.
  • Gloves, preferably designed for use with a motorcycle and which, as well as providing warmth, will give good protection against knocks and abrasions to the hands and fingers.
  • Stout footwear. Your footwear should give support to the ankle and have good rubber soles.

If your instructor feels that you are inappropriately dressed and is unable to correct the situation before your lesson starts, he may decide not to let you continue. In that case, you will be required to rebook your training for another day. A rebooking fee may be charged in addition to the course fee. Details of the course fees can be found here.
